Blue Brazil look to prove themselves to Bollan

-

Cowdenbeath boss Gary Bollan is looking for further confirmation that his Blue Brazil side are improving when they host Albion Rovers this afternoon.

Improvement already looks established as Bollan’s side have won their last four games and sit just behind League 2 leaders Cove Rangers and Edinburgh City.

However, defeating a Coatbridge side that posed them problems last season, would be a further sign that things are moving in the right direction.

Bollan said: “All I can ask for is more of the same from the players. They have been terrific recently and turned good performances into games.

“I cannot ask for any more than they are giving me, but I do like to challenge them.”

“We won two games at home and then the challenge was to win away and we did that at both Stenhousemuir and Queen’s Park. They are both difficult venues, but we won and there is some momentum building behind us.”

“I could be greedy and say that if we had not lost a late goal at Cove Rangers earlier this season then we would be even closer to the top. However I am pleased with where we are and what the players are doing for the club.”

As for facing Kevin Harper’s side, Bollan said: “The Albion Rovers team is unrecognisable from a year ago and have probably improved again from the side Kevin Harper put together for the second half of last season.

“However, they are a side that we struggled against. We had a couple of draws before beating them. However we then lost in a midweek game when they were putting a run of wins together that eventually took them past Berwick Rangers.”

“This game will be a good measure of where both teams are now.”

Michael Herd is out injured with Bollan bringing in goalkeeper Peter Morrison from Motherwell again on an emergency loan as Kevin Dabrowski is out due to a fractured cheekbone.
