Wilson hopes to sample Scottish win as manager

-

Scottish Cup winner Mark Wilson is keen for his Brechin side to see off hosts Annan in the Scottish Cup in order that he can sample a new experience.

The Glebe Park boss explained: “The Scottish Cup was good to me as a player but it has been frustrating to me as a manager.

“When I was in charge at Airdrie, we were drawn against a Livingston side who were in the same league as us and the same thing has happened at Brechin.

“It is all the more frustrating as we were the only all-league 2 tie and we face each other again at the same venue next weekend.

“The best way to go about meeting new opponents would be to get through to the next round and that is what we will look to do.”

Wilson is seeing green shoots of progress in his work at Glebe Park since his appointment last month, with his side off the foot of the table and showing resilience.

He said: “We were leading Stirling in our last league game, so it was disappointing to only get a draw.

“However we played the best I have seen for the first hour. We then built on that in a friendly against Peterhead last weekend.

“We were behind in that game, but the players never panicked.

“They kept on doing what we asked them to do and we grabbed an equaliser.

“They could have thought that it is only a friendly and there was not great need but what they showed me in terms of determination not to lose was great.”

On-loan St Johnstone goalkeeper Ross Sinclair is back after Scotland duty while Sean Mcintosh, Jamie Reid and Lee Duncanson are all available after injury. Dougie Hill and Emile N’goy face fitness tests.
