Lichties to face junior giants Auchinleck for place in last 32

-

Arbroath will travel to face Scottish Junior Cup holders Auchinleck Talbot in the third round of the Scottish Cup.

The Ayrshire outfit, who beat Ayr in the fourth round last season and have won the junior Scottish a record 13 times, will host the Lichties later next month as they attempt a repeat of last campaign’s heroics.

The draw was made live on BBC Sportscene last night.

Montrose also face a difficult tie as they travel to face Bonnyrigg Rose, who left the juniors last season to compete in the Lowland League.

Dunfermline are away to Stranraer while Raith Rovers play host to Peterhead. Forfar are away to Dumbarton in another League 1 affair.

Should Brechin beat Annan in their second round replay they will head to Edinburgh City and Cowdenbeath will travel to Highland League Inverurie Loco Works – if they get past Broxburn Athletic.

Dundee junior side Lochee United will face on-form East Fife if they can beat BSC Glasgow in their second round replay next weekend.

However, nobody at Thomson Park will be getting carried away about the draw with Sunday’s replay the priority.

Former Scotland women’s internationalist Rose Reilly and Hibernian defender Steven Whittaker joined BBC’S Jane Lewis to undertake the draw.

Two-time Scottish Cup winner Whittaker said: “It’s an incredible competition to be a part of, let alone win. It’s a feeling I’ll never forget and one of the highlights of my career.”

The ties are set to take place on the weekend of November 23.
