Homes left badly damaged after major Monifieth blaze drama.
EMERGENCY: Fire crews attended with seven vehicles and police taped off road after blaze ripped through house
Seven fire and rescue vehicles and emergency crews were called to a house fire in Monifieth yesterday.
Teams rushed to Milton Place at around 4.50pm as flames engulfed a property on the quiet residential street.
The blaze is understood to have started in the loft of one semi-detached house before spreading to another.
Firefighters could be seen removing charred debris from the rear of the properties well into the evening.
It is believed no one was injured but both homes sustained significant damage.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent seven appliances to tackle the blaze and the road was taped off by police.
A spokeswoman said last night: “We got the call at 4.52pm. We are still in attendance. We have five appliances there plus special appliances.”
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed the force received a call from the fire service requesting assistance shortly before 5pm.
He added: “We were called by the fire service. Officers are at the scene.”

Traffic heading towards Monifieth was sent along Guthrie Terrace towards Strathmore Street, with drivers heading west through Monifieth being turned up Grange Road.
Local community Facebook page Our Monifieth reported: “Ferry Road closed at Milton car wash (both directions).
“Grange Road junction open to traffic travelling from and towards the High Street. Fire service attending an incident. Balgillo Road heavy with traffic.”
A number of motorists reported being turned around while driving in the area.
Kirsty Donoghue, store manager of Co-op Food in Monifieth, offered those impacted by the fire a cup of tea and use of a phone while emergency crews attended the scene.
