Dunfermline striker discovers recipe for success ahead of Dee TV clash.

-

Gabby Mcgill is desperate to help Dunfermline discover the recipe for success – after finally finding a flatmate who can cook.

The former Middlesbrough striker has had to be patient waiting for his first-team opportunities since joining the Pars in the summer but made his 12th appearance of the season the last time out against Morton.

The 19-year-old is eager for another chance to impress up front with top scorer Kevin Nisbet when the East End Park men host Dundee live on TV tonight.

And the former York City marksman reckons the loan signing of Aberdeen forward Ethan Ross could prove the missing ingredient in his bid to become a top poacher for the Fifers.

He said: “It’s the first time that I have lived away from home by myself and it’s a different way of living but I think I have adjusted quite well.

“The boys in the flat have helped me out massively and it is all about getting us all through it.

“I’m in a flat with Matty Bowman and now Ethan Ross has come in and he seems to have settled in really well. It’s good fun, to be honest, I like it.

“My cooking has got better, you learn stuff off other people. Ethan has come in and he doesn’t seem to be too bad – he seems to be a bit clued up in that respect.

“Me and Matty have been in the flat cooking pasta and chicken – every single night. So it’s good that Ethan has come in to change it up.

“The first question to anyone who comes into the flat is ‘can you cook, can you drive?’

“I’ve not had that much of a chance to go home but I don’t mind that. Coming up here, you know what you have signed up for and you know the job that you have to do.

“I have had to bide my time but it was about taking my chance when it came against Morton. I’d like to think that I played all right with Kevin Nisbet up top.

“Ultimately it is up to the gaffer but we do work quite well as a partnership.

“There is link up there and a relationship there. Obviously there are other boys fighting for a place as well, so it is just about keeping the jersey at the moment.”

Dunfermline have lost their last five matches to dent hopes of pushing for a promotion play-off spot and spark fears of being dragged into a relegation battle.

But Mcgill is adamant Stevie Crawford’s outfit, four points off Dundee in fourth and four points above Alloa at the bottom, still have the belief they can turn things around and challenge at the right end of the table.

He added: “We know results have not gone our way in recent weeks and we only have ourselves to blame, really. We know that it hasn’t been good enough.

“But we go into every game confident because we have good quality in the side – enough to beat any team in the league.”
