James Swan, Stormont Street, is another Perth boy who is a wanderer. He has not been seen or heard of since the morning of Monday last. Although only 12 years of age, the boy has been in the habit of leaving home and staying out all night. On these occasions, he invariably wandered about the town and found lodging in railway carriages at Perth General Station. Frequently also he played truant. On this occasion, however, his wandering spirit appears to have taken him further afield.

East Fife have struck a real purple patch with five points from their last three league games and a 3-0 triumph over Raith Rovers in the cup. The Methil club were well worth their 1-1 draw with Falkirk at Brockville. It partially avenged an earlier defeat from the Bairns at Bayview. Indeed the Fifers looked like holding out for a surprise win when they led by a Bobby Waddell goal with only 14 minutes left, but ex-dunfermline left-half George Millar, now skipper at Falkirk, salvaged a point for the Bairns by converting a penalty kick.

Fitness fanatic Oliver Huskinson has been ordered to give up weightlifting – because doctors feel it is putting a strain on him as he approaches his 100th birthday. The old soldier, who was also advised to give up his regular eight-mile walks, has been pumping iron since 1918. He took it up while recovering from malaria contracted during First World War service in the Middle East. Mr Huskinson had to sacrifice his 100-mile bike trips when he reached the age of 80.

An Angus councillor has been slammed after booking controversial comedian Roy “Chubby” Brown for a charity gig. The comedian, known for his obscenity-laden, no-holds barred act, is to perform for the Santa Claus, a Montrose charity, in March. Its chairman, independent councillor Tommy Stewart, faced calls to cancel the event from Kirriemuir and Dean SNP councillor Julie Bell, who said: “Brown is a misogynist, he’s transphobic and homophobic, he mocks people with disabilities and he’s a racist bigot.”
