Young will have to manage loanee Morrison ‘carefully’

-

East Fife’s new on-loan signing, Hearts winger Callumn Morrison, has done all he can to convince Locality Hub Bayview boss Darren Young that he should be involved when the Fifers host Dumbarton this afternoon.

The 20-year-old has joined the East Fife squad until the end of the season and Young said: “Callumn is an exciting prospect and he looked really good in training with us during the week.

“He is very much in my thoughts to play against Dumbarton at some stage although we will have to manage him carefully as he has not played a lot of football recently.”

If Morrison starts he will not be the only change in East Fife’s line-up with Young saying: “We should have won at Clyde last weekend rather than lose 2-1 especially after being ahead.

“We made poor mistakes for both of their goals and I will freshen things up as a result.”

“It is important to get things going again after a disappointing spell results-wise.

“We have only picked up one point from our last three games and we should have picked up at least six.

“One positive side to our game is that we are creating chances.

“However we need to turn them into goals.”

The Sons are also likely to have a changed line-up with Ross Forbes returning to the club from Forfar and one-time Scotland under-21 internationalist Jai Quitongo signing on after a spell in Iranian football.

One further new face at Jim Duffy’s side is a familiar face to East Fife with towering striker Robert Jones joining after a stint at Stranraer, with Young saying: “Robert gave us problems earlier this season so we will need to mark him tightly if he plays.

“Dumbarton will no doubt be well-organised.

“They showed up at Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup recently that they are a well-drilled side.

“However Peterhead found a way past their defence last week and we will look to do the same.”

Experienced attacker Kevin Smith is also in Young’s thoughts for a starting role with only the injured Kyle Bell ruled out.

Cowdenbeath meanwhile head to Hampden to take on a new-look Queen’s Park side with Central Park boss Gary Bollan looking to extend the Blue Brazil’s unbeaten run against the Spiders to eight games.

“Queen’s Park will be a new look side under a fairly new manager in Ray Mckinnon,” Bollan said.

“However we have a good record against them and will look to continue that.

“You could spend a lot of time talking about this player or that player that has joined but I will focus on what our boys can do.”

Bollan has not been able to add to his squad this week.

He said: “I have been trying to a get a new face in to help us in the striking department but there is no one available.”
