Last week it was Storm Ciara threatening the programme of fixtures and this week it looks like Dennis could wreak havoc with games in the region.

One match that stands a decent chance of going ahead is at Whitton Park where Broughty Athletic take on Scone Thistle for the second week running.

The visitors will be desperate that there isn’t a repeat of last week’s 10-0 demolition. Since last week manager Sean Whitworth has resigned from the hot seat and the club are looking for their third manager of the season.

Broughty boss Jamie Mccunnie has a number of injuries that will need monitoring and there will be late fitness tests before he can name his side.

Definitely missing will be Josh Skelly who picked up a thigh injury against Carnoustie last month.

Super League North leaders Carnoustie are looking to return to winning ways against Dundee North End following their penalty shoot-out defeat to Banks o’ Dee in the Quest Precision Engineering Cup last weekend.

Manager Phil Mcguire is likely to restore Jamie Winter and Brian Clark to the starting XI after they were rested last weekend.

The Gowfers boss will have to do without skipper and central defender Ryan Roche who is suspended following a red card in the last round of fixtures.

As Carnoustie were going out of the cup last Saturday, Dundee North End were going through to the quarterfinals, winning 3-0 on penalties at Aberdeen East End.

The two previous meetings between the sides have seen a 2-2 draw at Laing Park and a 4-1 win for the Gowfers at North End Park but, despite that, North End boss Tony Mcauley is confident his side are capable of an upset.

Mcauley is short of players at present and was listed as a substitute last weekend and may need to do the same again, with Keiran Sturrock ineligible under the terms of his loan agreement from Carnoustie.

Downfield were another side to progress to the Quest quarter-finals after a 5-2 win at Forres Thistle. This weekend sees the Spiders return to League action at home to Luncarty, who are unbeaten under new boss Robbie Holden. Downfield manager Paul Marr is expected to name the same squad that won at Forres.

Forfar West End manager Derek

Lawson is still looking for a winning formula after losing 3-1 to East Craigie in a friendly on Monday night.

This weekend West End take on a Tayport side that climbed out of the bottom three for the first time last weekend.

The sides drew 0-0 last time they met but Tayport will make the trip full of confidence of taking all three points. The only absentee for the Fife side is Ryan Suttie who is suspended.

Kirriemuir Thistle manager Darren Scott is having a tough time at the moment with a number of players missing through injury. He takes his threadbare side into battle against a Lochee United outfit who are chasing Carnoustie for the title.

Lochee will travel to Kirrie confident of taking maximum points.

Josh Gorton and Andy Ballantyne return but Scott Mccomiskie is suspended.

The match of the day is the second v third clash between Blairgowrie and Arbroath Vics at Davie Park.

Blair boss Mark Brash has a full squad to choose from but that is not the case for Vics manager Eddie Gray. He is without Sam Clark and Corey Gray through suspension, Jack White is unavailable and Michael Fotheringham is injured.

It has been a strange week in Angus – last Saturday saw Brechin Vics, who are still looking for a manager following Andy Davie’s departure due to work commitments, thrash Forfar Albion 6-0.

On Thursday night Albion announced that manager Steven Stewart had stepped down with Davie taking over the Guthrie Park hot seat.

This weekend managerless Vics host Dundee Violet knowing they will need a repeat of last week’s performance to defeat Andy Heggie’s side.

Meanwhile at Forfar Albion, new boss Davie leads his side for the first time against Coupar Angus at home.

He is expected to have a full squad available but will leave his selection late.

Coupar Angus visit Forfar Albion four points clear of their opponents but well aware of the new manager boost that clubs often receive.

Coupar travel without the suspended Dylan Higgins while Stefan Brown and Lewis Gemine are injured.

The game between Lochee Harp and Dundee East Craigie has been called off.

Meanwhile, Montrose Roselea’s Mcleman Cup first round tie with Hermes was also postponed yesterday.
