Entries are open for the multi-breed show and sale of pairs of ewe hoggs at this year’s NSA Scotsheep event.

The biennial event, organised by the Scottish region of the National Sheep Association (NSA), will take place on June 3 at Robert and Hazel Mcnee’s Over Finlarg Farm at Tealing, near Dundee.

“The show and sale of ewe hoggs held at previous NSA events has always attracted huge interest with a large ringside of buyers present,” said event chairman Willy Millar.

“This sale will give breeders a chance to showcase their stock and give buyers an opportunity to purchase some of the best bloodlines in the breeds. I would encourage any prospective exhibitors to get their entries in as early as possible in case numbers are limited.”

Nine classes will be on offer at the fixture and both Mv-accredited and non-accredited sheep will be eligible for entry.

The classes are: Bluefaced Leicester; Mules; North Country Cheviot; Blackface; Suffolk; Texel; any other native breed; any other continental breed, and any other cross breed.

The pre-sale show will be judged by retired United Auctions sheep auctioneer and sales director Matt Stevenson, from Gargunnock, Stirling.

Prize money per class includes £50 for first prize, £25 for second and £10 for third. The prize for the overall champion is £100.

The closing date for entries, which cost £25 per pair plus VAT, is May 25. All sheep entered for the show must be offered for sale.

Entry forms are available from Euan Emslie, who can be contacted on 07718 908523 or at euan@nsascotland.org, or United Auctions on 01786 473055 or at info@uagroup.co.uk
