Champion, weighing 480kg, made £1,280 in sale of 1,488 store cattle, with 484kg Pittentian heifer in reserve

The Robertsons from Newton of Logierait won the Donald Patullo Memorial Cup for the champion at United Auctions Aberfeldy store cattle show and sale – their winner, a bullock weighing 480kg, sold for £1,280.

In reserve place was a 484kg heifer from Pittentian Farming Partnership at £1,300. Pittentian won the champion pen of four which sold for £1,250. In all, 1,488 store cattle were sold, together with 107 cast cows and 605 store sheep.

Bullocks (848) ave 227.69p to 345.70ppk for a 376kg BRBX from Newton of Logierait, and to £1,320 for a 617kg AAX from Oatridge. Dairy bullocks (33) ave 168.08p to 186.30ppk for a 569kg MOX from Bandirran, and to £1,215 for a 680kg MOX from Bandirran. Heifers (607) ave 220.86p to 329.30ppk for a 416kg BRBX from Greenwells, and to £1,390 for a 564kg Limx from Stanley.

Beef cows and bulls (71) ave 141.68p to 191.90ppk for a Simx from Symington Mains, and to £1,410 for a BRBX from Middlehill. Dairy cows (25) ave 102.94p to 115.00ppk for a HFX from Glenrig, and to £945 for a HOX from Bandirran. Forward cattle (11) ave 152.21p to 184.10ppk for a AAX from Peattieshill and to £1,330 for a AAX from Peattieshill.
