Late fitness tests for Fed in quarter-final

-

Broughty Athletic head to Ayrshire to face Darvel in a Scottish Junior Cup quarter-final this afternoon.

Fed boss Jamie Mccunnie has a couple of players facing late fitness tests, while Josh Skelly is out with a recurrence of his thigh injury.

Two of the quarter-finals were resolved last weekend with Beith and Pollok progressing.

The game between Auchinleck Talbot and Hurlford United has again been postponed due to illness in the Talbot camp.

With the Super League North tie between Lochee United and Broughty Athletic postponed due to Broughty being in cup action the focus switches to the bottom of the table, with Kirriemuir Thistle entertaining Forfar West End at Westview Park.

Two points separate the sides with West End occupying the basement position. Derek Lawson’s side will have been boosted by a 2-0 friendly win over Montrose Roselea on Monday night.

Lawson is without Michael Mcilravey, who will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Ryan Cruickshank faces a late fitness test. Otherwise West End should have a full squad.

Kirriemuir Thistle manager Darren Scott is without Stuart Mckenna, Ryan Cormack and Dino Leddie.

Scone Thistle begin a new era with Paul Martin as manager against the league leaders Carnoustie Panmure.

Their two previous meetings have seen Carnoustie score 11 unanswered goals and they will be looking to take advantage of both Broughty and Lochee United being without a league game.

The new Thistle boss is expected to have a full squad, while Phil Mcguire is without Ryan Roche through suspension and has injury doubts over key players despite not having played for three weeks.

Robbie Holden will be looking for his Luncarty side to make it four straight wins as they travel through to Dundee to take on Downfield at Downfield Park.

The Spiders will be hoping for a repeat of the 2-0 win last time they met.

Holden has added experience to his squad and started the post-jonny Kelly era well.

This weekend sees him without captain Stuart Nicol through suspension. Scott Mollison and Kieran Donald are out long term through injury.

Downfield boss Paul Marr is expected to have a full squad.

Tayport were one of the few teams to manage a fixture last weekend. However, it didn’t end well as the Fife side exited the Thorntons Property Cup going down 3-2 at East Craigie.

This weekend Chris Macpherson’s side welcome Dundee North End to the Canniepairt looking to avenge the 7-3 defeat the last time the sides met.

Tayport welcome back skipper Ryan Suttie from suspension and Macpherson has a full squad to choose from.

Tony Mcauley will hope the break due to the weather will have allowed several injuries to heal, and the North End boss is expected to have a full squad.

The big game in the Premier League North is at Craigie Park where leaders East Craigie face second-placed Blairgowrie. The Shipbuilders sit two points clear of the visitors with two games in hand and are big favourites for the title.

Dylan Harkin picked up a knock last week against Tayport and is East Craigie’s only doubt for the game.

Blairgowrie manager Mark Brash is without Gordon Pirie and Ryan Menzies through work commitments.

Coupar Angus welcome Brechin Vics to Foxhall Park and will be looking to repeat last month’s 4-3 victory.

The home side are without Dylan Higgins through suspension but otherwise are at full strength.

Brechin Vics, still without a manager, are missing Adam Renilson through work and Barrie Gourlay is doubtful.

Violet boss Andy Heggie welcomes Forfar Albion to Glenesk Park. The Pansies manager is without Ryan Bannon through suspension, and Kieran Mcwilliam is out with a back injury.

Andy Davie is without Jon Kidd through suspension and Owen Wilson has broken a bone in his foot.

The Albion manager has a number of players with knocks who will need late fitness tests.

Montrose Roselea aim to get back in action after three weeks of strong wind then a waterlogged Broomfield.

Deveronside are the visitors in the North Region Super League. The teams drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture.

Roselea will again be without Murray Soutar and Jo Reoch, who are both serving a suspension, and the long-term injured Tom Dalgarno and Joe Aitken. Connor Yeats and Lloyd Hester join the squad having played a part in Monday’s friendly against Forfar West End at Links Park.
