City sides harbour hopes
Both Dundee teams have home advantage today against teams fairly secure in mid-table in the Premiership, but the outcomes could be quite different.
Menzieshill should be able to see off the challenge of Kelburne – although the Paisley side’s form last week against league leaders Grange may lead to a potential upset.
Wanderers have an altogether more difficult task against Clydesdale, but the latter’s postponement last Saturday should have given Wanderers a slight edge in preparation.
Perthshire, fifth in division two, can ease closer to fourth-placed ESM with a game in hand; that is if they maintain their scoring record and improve on their defensive form.
St Andrews University will look forward to a much easier game against bottom team Aberdeen Grammar.
Monarchs can press their case for promotion from division three by picking up the expected three points away to Aberdeen University, while hoping that third-placed Granite City Wanderers can dent Strathclyde’s record.
It’s Scottish Cup quarter-final day tomorrow with local teams still involved.
Perthshire host Menzieshill in the premier competition and it is hard to see anything other than a Menzieshill win.
St Andrews University face the most difficult task against league leaders Grange.
Four of the eight teams still in the District Plate are from this area.
Perthshire II will expect to progress against Madras, but it will be much closer between Wanderers II and St Andrews University II.
Perthshire III have both been drawn away in the Reserve Cup and will do well to overcome Hillhead III.
The semi-finals of all cups are on Sunday April 5.
