Bail for woman who robbed city pensioner after being spurned

A Dundee woman who robbed a pensioner who rejected her sexual advances has been released on bail ahead of her sentencing.

Ashley O’neill, 33, is also due to be sentenced after stabbing a friend at her home in Hoylake Place in September 2018.

O’neill had been remanded in custody since November last year and appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday.

On September 10 2019, O’neill attacked a 69-year old man, seizing his body and pushing him at Hoylake Place and Hoylake Avenue.

This caused him to fall and bang his head on the ground, rendering him unconscious.

She then robbed him of a wallet, bank cards, a phone and cigarettes. He had been walking home from a funeral when O’neill started talking to him and put her hand in his pocket before she launched her attack.

Before pushing him to the ground, O’neill asked if he wanted her to perform a sex act on him.

O’neill was on bail at the time for the September 19 2018 incident, when she stabbed a friend who had been staying with her with a “pink-handled veg peeler”.

The woman was taken to Ninewells Hospital and received multiple stitches across her body and legs, causing severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

O’neill also admitted possessing a knife in St Columba Gardens on November 24 last year.

The case will call again at Dundee Sheriff Court on April 1 and O’neill was released on bail.

She was ordered to cooperate with the social work department in the preparation of reports ahead of sentencing.
