The Charlatans top the bill for Party at the Park
FESTIVAL: Musical line-up revealed for two-day summer event in Fair City
Indie rockers The Charlatans will headline Perth’s Party at the Park this summer.
The line-up for the new major music festival can be exclusively revealed by The Courier.
Revellers will also see Embrace, Lightning Seeds, Fun Lovin’ Criminals Toploader and Dundee’s rising star Be Charlotte, pictured right, take to the Fair City stage this summer.
The two-day festival will take place on the South Inch over the weekend of June 28-29, with thousands of music lovers ready to descend on the city centre location.
Crowds will be entertained by more than 50 acts with Scouting for Girls, Gun, Hot Dub Time Machine and Skerryvore also lined up for the inaugural gigs.
The organisers behind the new festival are the same team who run the successful Party at the Palace event in Linlithgow, headlined by Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers.
The team have attracted Scottish stars The Proclaimers, Texas and Deacon Blue to the West Lothian town in recent years.
Organisers believe Perth’s central location in Scotland and the South Inch’s close proximity to the railway station will draw large crowds to the music extravaganza. Peter Ferguson, Party at the Park director, said: “We had been looking at sites across the country and Perth just offered so much in terms of location and accessibility as well as a very experienced team at Perth and Kinross Council to help pull it together.”
The new music festival comes four years after T in the Park shut down after spending 19 years as Scotland’s premier music festival between Strathallan and Balado in Perth and Kinross.
