Leading prices made at sale of store cattle and Young Farmers’ calves
Lawrie & Symington, Forfar, had forward 855 store cattle and 14 Young Farmers’ calves.
Bullocks (566) to £1,255 for a pair of 700kg Simmentals from Suttieside, and to 274.9p per kg for a pen of four 382kg Limousins from Sketewan to average 216p.
Heifers (289) to £1,160 for a 580kg Lim from West Leys and 258p for a pair of 407kg Lim from Muirhouses to an average of 218.5ppk.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions the show of Young Farmers’ calves was cancelled and 18 of the calves bought in November were not forward.
However, 14 YF calves sold, with nine bullocks selling to ave £1,181, 214p and five heifers to ave £1,236, 243p.
