Remote learning helps scrum-half

-

Scotland scrum-half Sam Hidalgo-clyne hopes some remote learning can help him hit the ground running with Exeter Chiefs.

The 26-year-old is set to join up with international team-mate Stuart Hogg when the English Premiership leaders resume training in the coming days, with Jonny Gray also set to move south from Glasgow Warriors this summer.

Hidalgo-clyne penned a twoyear deal in February to move back to the UK after a short-term deal with French Top 14 side Lyon.

And the former Edinburgh, Scarlets and Racing 92 player is confident regular chats with Exeter head coach Rob Baxter and his staff have brought him up to speed as the Devon outfit seek to clinch the top flight title on its planned resumption in August.

He said: “It’s been hard for me because the excitement is there about joining the club, but all of us have been living week by week through this lockdown.

“When we do get the chance to get back into training, it’s going to be a great feeling.

“Once the season was cut short in France, I spoke with Rob (Baxter) and he was keen for me to get over here and start to get up to speed with things.

“I’ve had a few conversations with the coaches, who have talked me through some of the plays and details online, and that’s given me a real insight into it all.

“Now, I want to put all of that into practice as best I can and get myself up and running with the Chiefs.

“I know I’m coming in at a crucial part of the season, so hopefully I can play a small part in what should be an exciting time for the club.”
