Murray tipped to take over

Arbroath basketball star Gareth Murray has emerged as favourite to become the new playercoach at Glasgow Rocks.

The GB international forward is understood to be on a two-person shortlist to succeed Vincent Lavandier, who departed last week to join French side Avignon.

Murray, 35, already heads up the Rocks academy and could be tempted to take on the role despite heavy budget cuts planned for next season.

The British Basketball League is not likely to get under way until the autumn, with the Scottish Government not expected to reveal dates to allow indoor sport to restart until July 30.
