Mccabe signs for Port after spending year on sidelines

-

Junior football’s resumption date may still be clouded in mystery but that hasn’t stopped clubs building and bringing in new players to prepare for the re-start.

Tayport have been busy in the last week with manager Chris Mcpherson adding four new faces to the Canniepairt ranks.

Goalkeeper Gary Thain joins the club after leaving Forfar West End and is joined by his team-mate at Strathmore Park last season Zak Wilson.

Jamie Mccabe is another addition. The former Carnoustie Panmure man had taken a year out of the game due to injury but rejoins his former Laing Park gaffer Alan Mcskimming, who is assistant manager at The Canniepairt.

The final addition is defender Bradie Heggie, who has opted to remain in the juniors rather than go with Luncarty into the East of Scotland League.

Ryan Suttie was one player to leave Tayport following the curtailment of the 2019-20 season and has joined Carnoustie Panmure.

Gowfers boss Phil Mcguire said: “I have known Ryan for a number of years now and have always been impressed with his ability in opposition.

“When the chance came to speak to him I was equally impressed with how he conducted himself and I felt his positive attitude and character would work well and add to the culture we have within the squad.

“I was delighted to agree terms and he provides the added competition within the squad.”

Derek Lawson’s rebuilding job at Forfar West End continues.

He has brought Matty Reynolds back to the club and as well as the experienced forward Lawson has re-signed Morgan Evans and brought in striker Aiden Benvie from Scone Thistle.

As well as increasing the playing squad, Lawson has added experienced coach Kevin Longmuir to his team.

Longmuir was a player at West End under John Clenaghan and has experience with a number of local clubs.

Dundee East Craigie have made their first signing of the summer in experienced wide man Aaron Conway.

The former Forfar, East Fife, Livingston and Peterhead man is Sean Wilkie and Craig Brown’s first addition with more in the pipeline for the Shipbuilders.

Coupar Angus have retained the services of promising duo Lewis Gemine and Sam King as they look to rebuild the club.

Keiran Sturrock, who was on loan at Dundee North End from Carnoustie Panmure last season, has made the move to North End Park permanent.

The striker, who spent a year in New Zealand with New Plymouth Rangers before moving back to Scotland, has signed a one year deal.

Highly-rated striker Aaron Stephen has extended his stay at Brechin Vics while Blairgowrie manager Mark Brash has added Paul Scott to the squad at Davie Park

St Andrews United manager Charlie King has made his first new addition at Recreation Park by bringing in defender Ryan O’connor from Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts.

O’connor was Swifts captain last season as they earned promotion to the Premier League.

King has also persuaded local teenager Jake Grady to return to the club.
