A Fife-based furniture and fit-out specialist is set to play a significant role in a £68 million school campus construction project.

Deanestor has been appointed by Morrison Construction to fit out 324 rooms across the new Barony Campus in Cumnock.

It is the largest new school project in Scotland and the biggest capital project ever undertaken by East Ayrshire Council.

The deal is worth more than £1m to the Dunfermline firm, who will manufacture and install bespoke fitted furniture, including 117 learning walls, 1,200 metres of shelving, 1,500 metres of worktops, kitchens and food technology laboratories.

The site will consolidate five schools into one inclusive campus, creating a centre for 2,500 students and 300 staff, including a secondary school, primary school and supported learning centre.

The latest project is the sixth contract

This is a challenging fit-out project that required intensive design resources... RAMSAY MCDONALD, DEANESTOR MANAGING DIRECTOR

Deanestor has been awarded by Morrison Construction in the past three years.

Ramsay Mcdonald, managing director of Deanestor Scotland, said: “This latest contract follows a detailed assessment which looked at our financial stability and our skills, track record and technical expertise to deliver a project of this complexity and scale.

“This is a challenging fit-out project that required intensive design resources to achieve a cost plan that matched the design intent.”

Deanestor, which employs 150 staff, designs, manufactures and installs furniture across a number of sectors, including healthcare, laboratories, universities and secure accommodation.

As well as the Dunfermiline base, Deanestor has manufacturing and distribution facilities in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

In 2019, Deanestor acquired the Havelock brands, including ESA Mcintosh, out of administration.
