Ridicule as police launch ‘witness appeal’

-

Police Scotland has been ridiculed after launching an “urgent” appeal to hunt down a “skinny man with curly hair ” who allegedly urinated outside.

Tayside Police Division is looking for witnesses who may have spotted the mystery figure who is accused of relieving himself on a grassy area near some flats in Arbroath.

Police launched a “witness appeal” on Monday following the incident last Friday, urging anyone who may have information on the man to come forward.

However, their appeal has backfired after their post was inundated with hundreds of comments from social media users ridiculing the force.

Phil Mckenna wrote: “This has got to be a wind-up. Social media officer has been eating evidence from the last drug bust!”

James Davie joked: “It’s important this man is caught he’s clearly a risk to the public.”

And Andrew Lindsay wrote: “Surely they’re taking the p***?”

Other Facebook posts accused Police Scotland of being “embarrassing” and “wasting taxpayers’ money”.

Victoria Davie wrote: “What’s happened to chasing the real criminals, this is embarrassing.”

Scott Cameron said: “Lock him up and throw away the key I say! I’m glad they’re hunting down proper criminals these days.

“You really never know where he might pee next.”

Lynne Carrol wrote: “Really! What a waste of police time. Get a grip!”

In response to the reaction, Police Scotland said: “We had received a complaint about the incident and officers are appealing for information.”
