Lockdown in pictures REVISITED

-

T later,he nation went into lockdown on March 23 2020. Now 10 months we remain confined to our homes. Back in May, our staff photographers documented how people across Angus were coping. We returned to the task as they endured a second shutdown.

Poppy Stephenson, four, from Monikie, said: “I miss playing with my best friends, but they don’t live in the village, so I can’t see them just now,” she said.

Dawn and Graham Allan, both 56, live with their cat, Zambini, in Newport.

“We’ve been focusing on keeping as fit and healthy as we can,” said Dawn.

“We bought an exercise bike. I’ve started doing poetry too, though not on the bike.”

Emma, 51, and Roy Hann, 50, live with nine of their 13 children in Dundee.

“It’s been really hard,” said Emma. “The wifi can’t handle it when all the kids are home-schooling at once.”

Barrie Calder, 60, lives with his wife in Edzell:

He said: “I’m a key worker for a company which makes an asthma medicine. The World Health Organisation asked makers to up their production as it might help treat coronavirus, so we’ve been really busy.”

Natalie Jarvis, 32, lives with her husband and daughters Taylor, 12, and Darcy, six, in Dairsie:

“It was Darcy’s birthday recently and we had a foot spa, birthday cake and balloons. Anything to make the day different,” she said.

Catherine, 60, and Jack Forbes, 64, live in Johnshaven.

“I was made redundant in July,” said Jack. “Sadly at my age I’m not at the top of the list when it comes to hiring.”

Lindsey Wilson, 52, lives with her partner above their pub in Kirriemuir.

She said: “We haven’t been pulling any pints, but have turned it into the Kirriemuir Food Hub, trying to combat food poverty and food waste.”

Jackie Handy, 51, lives with his wife in Dundee and battled boredom by painting Oor Wullie characters on his fence. He said: “The kids love ‘em.”

James Pirie, 70, runs a butcher shop in Newtyle. He said: My father, 87, was the oldest working butcher in the UK. He could never have imagined the ways we have had to adapt. I even started putting offers on our Facebook page.”
