Challenge to Ajeti ban put back

-

Celtic striker Albian Ajeti’s fast-track hearing has been put back 24 hours.

Ajeti will discover today whether he will serve a two-match ban after being accused of simulation.

The forward was cited by the Scottish Football Association after winning a penalty in his side’s 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock last week.

Celtic swiftly confirmed they would be challenging the proposed ban.

Manager Neil Lennon said on Friday: “He has had contact to the back of the foot or ankle.

“The keeper has made contact, he has gone down, the referee has given a penalty. I don’t see any simulation.

“Simulation is where there is no contact. There is obvious contact, you can see that quite clearly.

“I don’t understand why these charges have been brought up against Albian, we don’t agree with it at all so we will be appealing it of course.”

Ajeti will miss games against St Mirren tomorrow and St Johnstone on Sunday if Celtic lose their case.

Dundee’s twice rescheduled Championship clash with Ayr United is once more in doubt after heavy snowfall in the city.

Heavy rain and freezing temperatures has seen games against the Honest Men and the weekend match with Inverness Caledonian Thistle called off in recent weeks.

And the wintry weather has prompted the SPFL to call a 9am pitch inspection today. The first attempt at playing Mark Kerr’s side was branded a “fiasco” by the Dark Blues after an early morning pitch inspection deemed the Dens Park pitch playable on January 16 before match referee David Munro said otherwise.

The second came on January 26, this time a frozen pitch seeing the fixture postponed once more and rescheduled for February 9.

However, a forecast of further snow and falling temperatures to come could see the match re-arranged once more.
