£3,000 boost for club’s health programme

-

A Dundee football club has been handed a welcome cash boost thanks to grant funding from National Lottery Awards for All Scotland.

Dundee West FC has received £3,000 thanks to the National Lottery community fund in partnership with sportscotland.

The club will use the funding to deliver a programme of health and wellbeing activities for adults aged between 25 and 50 in Dundee. The programme will last 20 weeks and include gym workouts, zumba, walking and walking football.

The grant has been made possible thanks to National Lottery players, who raise £30 million each week for good causes across the UK.

Sportscotland chief executive Stewart Harris said: “At a time where there are plenty of challenges across the sporting sector in Scotland this funding will make a big difference to clubs up and down the country.

“This support for sport and communities across Scotland would not be possible without National Lottery players.”

The National Lottery community fund’s Scotland chairwoman, Kate Still, said: “It’s great to see such a variety of projects being funded to help people as they continue to be affected by the pandemic.

“We know that even a small amount of money can really help to change lives and, as a funder, our priority is to ensure that National Lottery money continues to flow to charities, voluntary sector organisations and grassroot groups across Scotland.”

National Lottery Awards for All Scotland is now more straightforward to apply to and faster to get funding from.
