Brechin boss praises players as new-look side shows promise
Despite going down to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Stirling Albion, City fans can be encouraged with the performance of their new-look side as they try to steer themselves away from the bottom of the League Two table.
From the opening whistle, City, with no fewer than eight new players in their line-up, were strong and solid at the back, competitive in midfield and always posed a danger up front against a side who had scored five with no reply against them just prior to the shutdown.
There was never going to be any repeat of that scoreline this time round as the visitors battled for every ball and put in a level of performance which augurs well for the vital matches ahead.
The only goal of the match came in the 65th minute when Kieran Moore picked up a pass from Andy Ryan before slotting the ball past City keeper David Hutton.
However, despite the disappointment of the defeat, City boss Michael Paton was able to take plenty of positives from his side’s performance.
“All credit to the boys who’ve come in,” he said.
“We asked them to do a job and they’ve gone and done that.
“There were a lot of fresh faces in the team but they’ve really gelled quickly and you can see the confidence that’s going through the team.
“One wee lapse of concentration undid all of the hard work that we put in for the whole game, but having said that it was a great team performance and we just have to ensure that we take that into Tuesday night’s match at Stranraer and the games ahead.”
