Brechin not hitting panic button in fight against drop – Paton

-

Manager Michael Paton insists there’s no panic as Brechin City battle to avoid the drop.

Paton’s bottom-dogs went down 1-0 at Stirling Albion on their return to League Two duty at the weekend and now travel to face fourth-top Stranraer tonight.

The Angus outfit know they’re facing a bitter dogfight to stay up as they still trail secondbottom Albion Rovers by two points.

But manager Paton, who is the youngest player-boss in the SPFL at the age of 31, is adamant they won’t be hitting the panic button.

Paton said: “It’s a time for calm heads.

“We know what we have to do and there’s no point starting to panic.

“It’s going to be a tough run-in but it’s something we’re actually looking forward to.

“There are so many positives to take from the

Stirling game into Stranraer which is what I’ll be hammering home to my players.

“The games are coming thick and fast. Stranraer is never an easy place to go to but we’re looking for nothing less than three points.”

Paton’s new-look side featured a clutch of January transfer window signings at the weekend with Paton convinced they’ll come good over the crucial coming weeks.

He added: “There were lots of fresh faces out there.

“They did well given they hadn’t had long to get to know each other.

“So they’ll get better with each passing game. Hopefully they can rise to the occasion at Stranraer.

“Our dressing-room as a whole is upbeat. It would just make a massive difference if we can get a victory under our belts.”
