Montrose swoop to bring Antoniazzi back to Links Park
Montrose moved swiftly on loan deadline day to secure the return of Chris Antoniazzi, on loan from Forfar until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder spent season 2018-19 at Links Park on loan from Aberdeen, scoring twice in 26 appearances.
The following year Antoniazzi spent half a season on loan at Cove Rangers before the talented young Don moved to Station Park on a permanent deal.
He has been unable to establish himself in Stuart Malcolm’s side but his ability is well known to Montrose boss Stewart Petrie, who was keen to strengthen his squad for the push for a promotion play-off place.
Forfar boss Stuart Malcolm took plenty of positives from Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Partick Thistle despite a sense of disappointment that his team did not secure three points.
He said: “We should have won the game, no question about it.
“The chances we created, the one-on-ones, we should have won it.
“We’ve had to defend unbelievably well at times and just one mistake for the second goal has cost us a little.
“If you had offered me a point before the game and the performance to go along with it, I would have bitten your hand off but I’m bitterly disappointed not to win.
“We’re battling away to get to eighth – it’s essentially a mini league between us, Clyde and Dumbarton at the minute.
“Whoever puts some sort of form together might find themselves out of that rather quickly but eighth is our aim. Since the turn of the year, our form has been positive.
“Our performances have been positive recently and we’ve added to the squad well so we’ll continue to build with what we’ve got.”
