CANOEING

Crieff canoeist Fiona Pennie added European gold to her 2019 world title after Great Britain won yesterday’s kayak team final at the European Slalom Championships in Ivrea, Italy.

The Scot and colleagues Mallory Franklin and Kim Woods incurred a two-second penalty after clipping gate six but recovered to finish over two seconds clear of silver medallists Austria.

Pennie will aim to stay on course for double gold when she competes in today’s individual K1 semi-finals.
