Innovation focus for event
A amonggri-technology, animal health and aquaculture innovations are the topics up for discussion at next week’s Biodundee International Conference.
The free virtual event, which takes place on Wednesday, will include a session focusing on the strengths and opportunities for aninal health, agri-tech and aquaculture (AAA) in Scotland.
The session will be chaired by John Mackenzie, chief executive of the Roslin Innovation Centre, and feature four panellists.
They are: David Farquhar, chief executive of vertical farming company Intelligent Growth Solutions; Dr Jenna Bowen, a postdoctoral researcher at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC); Dr Simon Doherty from the Institute of Global Food Security; and
Dr Lawrence Brown, board member of the British Veterinary Association’s Scottish Council.
Mr Mackenzie encouraged people to log in for the conference and said: “Scotland has a wealth of international assets in our AAA sectors and Scotland’s role in sustainable food production and security has the potential to lead the world in a green recovery, whilst also transitioning to net-zero.”
Biodundee will be delivered by DC Thomson & Co Ltd for the first time this year and is held in association with AMICULUM and Medtronic.
The title of this year’s conference is “Life Sciences and Healthcare: Key Sectors for Economic Recovery”.
