Partaking of picnics

-

A study conducted last year by the team at www.hampers.com found that 62% of British adults had never been on a picnic, while a further 61% had never used a canoe/ kayak in their life and 52% had never been camping.

An updated 2021 study by the team found that the past year has dramatically changed these numbers, with many UK adults and families looking at local activities they could carry out while under a variety of lockdown restrictions.

The latest study found that 82% of British adults have indeed been on a picnic, with 71% having been on at least one picnic in the past 12 months. While 38% chose to venture out and enjoy a picnic in order to have a break from being at home, 36% also admitted it allowed them to connect with and spend time with their friends and family they’ve missed.

Numbers also changed for other outdoor activities that this time last year many had never experienced including using a canoe/kayak, staying in a caravan, camping, visiting a UK landmark, and going for a bike ride.

A further 38% admitted last year they had never been in the sea in the UK, but this number now stands at just 15% .

Patrick Gore, managing director of www. hampers.com, said: “This past year has encouraged most of us to slow down and take a moment to enjoy what’s around us. We’re thrilled to hear that so many people who had not been on a picnic before have now been on one.”

Hair today...

A regular Craigie reader muses that wives can be illogical creatures. He can come home with a fresh haircut which is praised to the skies.

Then, four months later, it is the worst haircut he has ever had and it will have to be replaced ASAP.
