● The next British Cactus and Succulent Society Fife Branch meeting will be on Saturday in Leven Parish Church Hall from 10am to noon.

There will be short presentati­ons about growing cacti and succulents in 100% pumice followed by tea and coffee and a Q&A. Admission is £2 per person to help cover hall rental and heating.

● The Scottish Rock Garden Club’s Perth Show will be held at North Inch Community Campus on Saturday.

Scotland’s leading growers will be competing for trophies and other prizes with several hundred entries expected. Judging will finish at noon then the public can see the exhibits. The hall will open at 11am for plant sales, seeds, books and more. There will be six specialist nurseries, including Ardfearn, Ashbrook, Binny Plants, Hartside, Macplants and plants/ artwork from botanical artist Pamela Ferns. Teas, refreshmen­ts and home baking will be available from 11am and the show ends at 3.30pm. Entry is free and parking available.

● Speakabili­ty Tayside will meet on Friday in the DCA at 1.30pm.

The speaker is Carole Ford who will talk about tai chi.

● The annual general meeting of the Perth Burns Club is being held in the Salutation Hotel next Tuesday at 7.30pm for 8.

The meeting is open to anyone who may be interested in becoming a member. Full details are available at: perthburns­club.org.uk.

● Dundee artist John Stoa will be opening his garden this weekend.

There will be spring flowers and the chance to see paintings in his spring art exhibition. Visitors can also sample a selection of home brew fruit wines. It will be open on Saturday and Sunday, as well as May 4 and 5, from 11am to 5pm.
