-

“The Congregation of Christian Brothers Trustees are aware that two former teachers of St Ninian’s School in Falkland have been found guilty of historic sexual offences against pupils who attended the school in the 1970s and early 1980s.

“The trustees are also aware that the court acquitted three former teachers involved in the case.

“It is the unequivocal position of the trust that no young person should ever suffer abuse.

“The trust has cooperated fully with the police investigation and is grateful to the police for their diligence and attention to detail.

“Our thoughts are with the victims and their families at this difficult time.

“Any incident of abuse is a matter of deep regret to the trust. The trust remains dedicated to educating young people and it has robust protocols in place for their protection.

“The trust treats all allegations of abuse with the utmost seriousness and is committed to reporting allegations as soon as they are notified, in accordance with the relevant statutory protocols, to the statutory authorities and the police.

“Thereafter the trust is committed to cooperating fully and openly with any subsequent investigations.”
