- Claire warreNder

A charity that supports families in north-east Fife has been presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Families First St Andrews (FFSA) provides services for children aged between five and 16 with additional support needs, and their families. The organisation was nominated for the award by former trustee George Baird.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local voluntary sector organisations across the UK in recognition of outstanding work in their own communities.

In an assessment visit to FFSA, Deputy Lieutenant of Fife Tom Sunter said: “The high standards of leadership, management and training were readily apparent, as were the high morale, loyalty, enthusiasm and high motivation.

“Everyone involved with the organisation, from the children and families to FFSA’s partner agencies are committed to building on their strengths to reduce the inequalities Fife citizens experience.”

Members were invited to celebrate at a Patron’s Lunch in London and the Queen’s Garden Party in Edinburgh.
