A giant of journalism

Dick Donnelly was a giant of sports journalism and well-loved across Tayside and beyond. The affection in which he was held was clear to see at his funeral, attended by hundreds of mourners including many of the biggest names in sport.

He had the rare gift for a broadcaster of making listeners feel they knew him and, as such, could trust what he said – even his notorious Dick’s Donkey racing tips.

Tributes have been deservedly warm. He will be missed.
