Green light for Breedon to take over Hope

Breedon Aggregates, whose Scottish headquarters are at Ethiebeaton, has been cleared to buy rival Hope Construction Materials.

The Competition and Markets Authority accepted Breedon’s proposal to sell 14 sites to address competition concerns.

Breedon entered into a conditional agreement with Cortolina Investments to acquire Hope Construction Materials for £336 million last year.

Chairman Peter Tom said: “The way is now clear for Hope to join us and create the UK’s largest independent construction materials group.”
