Driver charged after crash puts female cyclist in hospital

A man has been charged with road traffic offences and drugs possession after a collision involving a cyclist in St Andrews.

Shortly before 7pm on Wednesday, a woman cyclist was injured in a collision with a black BMW on Largo Road.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said the incident happened near the junction with Scooniehil­l Road.

He said: “The cyclist was taken to Ninewells Hospital for medical attention and has since been discharged.

“Officers subsequent­ly charged the 29-year-old driver and he is expected to appear before Dundee Sheriff Court in due course.

“Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact police on 101 if they have not already done so.”
