Harry Potter and the Cursed Child events

The book launch coincides with another JK Rowling milestone – Harry Potter’s birthday.

In the novels, Harry is born on July 31, 1980, making him 36 years old on Sunday.

Waterstones is holding a series of events to celebrate the once boywizard’s birthday and mark the launch of the new book.

Branches in Perth, Dundee and St Andrews are holding a range of events, including midnight launches to pick up copies of the new book, and extended Sunday opening hours.

There will be treasure hunts, owl racing and Potter-themed drawing competitions.

A wand making workshop and adoptan-owl scheme are among other activities.

There’ll be a “pin the nose on YouKnow-Who” competition and ID badges from a certain notorious prison...
