The height of a cliff a man playing Pokemon Go fell from in Southern California. Firefighte­rs from the coastal city of Encinitas said two men climbed through a fence playing the digital-monster mobile phone game. One man fell about 50ft down the side of the unstable bluff and the other fell about 90ft to the beach. They were taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

The year by which Swedish defence and security company Saab claims the use of cameras and sensors could make traditiona­l towers “obsolete”. The firm has already tested the technology in the US, Sweden, Australia, Norway and Ireland. Cameras are used to relay informatio­n to a remote control room. The Irish Aviation Authority is trialling the use of digital towers at Cork and Shannon airports.

A report by Halifax found that one in three children as young as eight fret about money, and boys appear more likely to pick up on their parents’ financial concerns than girls. Parents are becoming more confident in teaching their children the value of money and feel comfortabl­e talking about it.

The length of time it’s taken the Rev Dr Valerie Allen to climb all 282 Munros. Her achievemen­t makes her the first minister in Scotland to climb every mountain in the country over 3,000ft. She admitted she now has mixed feelings that the journey has come to an end. “I am wondering what to do at weekends,” she said.
