Speedster branded ‘absolutely outrageous’
In 2003 an Aberdeen car dealer was jailed for six months after admitting travelling at 156.7mph in a powerful BMW M3 on the A90 dual carriageway.
He was eventually stopped by police as he neared Dundee having registered the highest speed recorded by Scottish police at that time.
A sheriff at Forfar described the man’s driving as “absolutely outrageous”.
Earlier this year a 22-year-old Angus man was jailed for 30 months and banned from the road for five years after a jury convicted him of driving dangerously on local roads before a high speed crash near Carnoustie.
During the trial, one teenage passenger claimed the man had been travelling at 145mph prior to losing control of the Honda hatchback before it left the road and hit a tree.
