Wee Barra is big prospect at Hamilton

Tips: Kevin Ryan’s four-year-old comes off back of improved showing

THE WEE BARRA should go well in the EBF Stallions Scottish Premier Series Fillies’ Handicap at Hamilton.

Kevin Ryan’s four-year-old filly returned to form at Carlisle a fortnight ago when she only succumbed by a short head to Pointillism.

That was a distinct step up on recent efforts, so it seems folly to scotch her chances at a racecourse where she won so well last summer off just a 2lb lower mark.

This looks a tougher assignment, but The Wee Barra has enough quality to prevail at this level.

GORING could be the one to be with in the Terry Mills & John Akehurst Handicap at Epsom.

Trained by the in-form Eve Johnson Houghton, the four-year-old was a pleasing winner at Windsor on August 1 and backed that up with a similarly useful performance at the Berkshire circuit, when fifth to Stellarta.

Goring did not really get the breaks that day, so that run perhaps deserves to be upgraded a little.

He is clearly in good heart and should be available at a working man’s price. SELECTIONS: EPSOM: 2.00 Suffragette City, 2.35 Star Of The East, 3.10 GORING (NAP), 3.45 Nouvelli Dancer, 4.20 Fandango, 4.55 Farham.

HAMILTON: 2.15 Kiribati, 2.50 Thankyou Stars, 3.25 Rubis, 4.00 The Wee Barra, 4.35 Chant, 5.10 La Casa Tarifa, 5.40 Lothair.

DOUBLE: Goring and Pipers Note.
