Lauren into last four in Germany

Dundee’s Lauren Middleton started the new badminton season in style by reaching the semi-finals in the under-17 mixed doubles at the Yonex Langenfeld Cup 2016 in Germany.

The teenager partnered Sweden’s Anton Tjulin and won four matches, three of them in three close games, on the way to the last four.

Middleton also reached the quarter-finals of the girls’ singles before losing to Belgium’s Joke de Langhe 21-14 21-18.

She and team-mate Maria Leith also reached the last eight of the doubles with two three-game wins.
