Application to demolish pub

-

Plans to remove a derelict pub from a prominent position in Leven have taken a step forward.

A planning application has been lodged with Fife Council to demolish the derelict Three Ways Inn on the corner of North Street.

The building, which has been empty since 2008, was last year bought by pub giant JD Wetherspoon. It has plans to develop and expand the site.

The firm originally hoped to renovate the existing threestorey building and create a dining area and kitchen on the ground floor.

Wetherspoon was granted a licence to sell alcohol by Fife licensing board earlier this summer.

Levenmouth area committee chairman Tom Adams has previously welcomed the application which, he said, had the potential to breathe new life into the town.

He is still enthusiastic about the proposal, stating: “I’ve been wondering when this was going to happen.

“It should go ahead quite soon, and I welcome it.

“I think it will rejuvenate Leven High Street and bring more people in.

“That will help the night-time economy, and the other bars and restaurants will benefit.”

The proposal will tie in with wider ambitions for the town centre aimed at attracting more people into Leven.

The first phase focuses on the Bridge Street and Shorehead areas.
