-

A man tried to kill his wife by wrapping a duvet around her neck in a bid to suffocate her.

Anh Vuong, 48, from Bournemouth, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to to assaulting his wife by kicking and punching her on the body, dragging her across the floor and pinning her body on a bed.

The incident took place on November 11 at an address in Perth High Street.

He further admitted placing his hand around her neck and compressing her throat whilst placing his other hand on her neck to restrict her breathing.

The charge also stated that Vuong wrapped a duvet around his wife’s head and face and put her head under the duvet to restrict her breathing in an attempt to suffocate her, all with the intention to kill her.

Sentence was deferred for background reports until October 12.
