“Further to your article about mill songs and poems last week,” emails Professor Stuart Pringle, “I wonder if Richie is going to include anything about the history of Taypark House itself on the walls.

“As readers may know, this was previously a world-renowned centre for medical education led for many years by Professor Ronald Harden.

“Amongst many other honours, he was awarded the Karolinska Institutet Prize for Research in Medical Education (often considered as the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for medical education).

“I think Ben Hogan also stayed there when he won the Open at Carnoustie in 1953.”
