Baird’s Highland pony success

Aberdeen Highland Pony Show saw a win for Sandy Baird of West Whitefield, Blairgowri­e, and his brood mare, Purple Heather of Whitefield.

By Lancelot of Whitefield, she is out of Heather Honey of Whitefield and was shown with her Oliver of Forglen-sired foal at foot.

The show, run by the North-east of Scotland Highland Pony Enthusiast­s Society, was judged by Pat Gray.

The reserve championsh­ip went to Kate Lawson and Willie Sinclair, of Kinaldie Holdings, Arbroath. Their twoyear-old filly, Lochlands Arizona Lady, is by Strathmore Cameron and out of Lochlands Magic Flute.

Best opposite sex to the champion was Robin and Karen Stewart’s Coulnacrai­g Jacobite, from Stablesbra­e, Durris.

This stallion is by Coulnacrai­g Highlander and out of Denmill Catriona.
