SOS from group protecting Cupar and north Fife
A group which protects the architectural heritage of Cupar and north Fife villages has issued an urgent appeal for new members.
Cupar and North Fife Preservation Society has been active for more than 50 years and has funded conservation projects including restoration of The Provost in Ceres, Tayport Town Clock, doocots in Letham and at Melville Gates roundabout, and the McGill Crichton statue near Cupar railway station.
But the group fears for its future if new blood isn’t found.
A spokesperson said: “With the rapidly changing development environment it has never been more important to maintain a watchful eye on development proposals.
“For the work of the society to continue there is an urgent need to attract new members to take an interest in the society and who may also be willing to participate in the work of the society’s committee.”
The society recently commissioned architects to prepare a scheme to redevelop the former ATS garage in Cupar, a proposal which received public support.
