Man charged with murder of sister

-

A man appeared in court yesterday accused of murdering his sister.

Elizabeth Bowe, 50, was found at a flat in Bobby Jones Place in St Andrews at around 9pm on Saturday September 17.

She was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where she died at around midday on Tuesday September 20.

Yesterday her brother, Charles Gordon, appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court to face a single charge of murder. He made no plea or declaration in the private hearing and his case was continued for further examination. No application for bail was made and Gordon was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing next week.

Miss Bowe is said to have died just weeks after allegedly being the victim of an assault by her partner.

Robert Cunningham, 51, of St Andrews, was arrested over an alleged assault on Miss Bowe in August. He appeared on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court last Tuesday and made no plea or declaration to charges of theft and assault to injury.

He was fully committed for trial on the assault charge and released on bail pending further dates being set.
