Nick hits gold target

Forfar shooter Nick Pye has won a gold medal at the recent Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships in Cardiff.

Nick’s triumph came in the 10 metre air pistol event, when he competed against marksmen from England, Wales, Ireland, Guernsey, Isle of Mann, Jersey and Gibraltar

The top eight shooters were then involved in a tense shoot-off, with Scotland taking gold, leaving England with silver and bronze.

The shooting was of an extremely high level, with Nick beating the top two ranked England competitors by 2.4 points to equal the British record.

The Scottish team performed extremely well during the competition – which ran over four days and included pistol, shotgun and rifle events – and picked up six golds, three silver and six bronze medals.
