Good and evil put their differences aside as two Kirkcaldy comic book fans got engaged.

James Innes Cameron decided to pop the question to girlfriend Bee Parkinson as the pair attended a comic book convention in Glasgow.

Dressed as Captain America, 22-year-old James got down on one knee for 23-year-old Bee, who was dressed for the occasion as Batman nemesis Poison Ivy.

Watched by dozens of onlookers, the fairytale proposal went without a hitch, with the couple now hoping to have their big day take place at another convention in 2018.

Bee, who is a careers advisor, said: “I was shocked but absolutely delighted.

“James had told me beforehand that he had a surprise for me, but I thought he had bought me a little figurine or something.

“He shouted to our friends to ask if they wanted to see Captain America do something fun. Then he just got down on one knee and asked if I’d marry him.

“I instantly said yes. It was the perfect place for him to propose.”

The couple’s engagement came just a year after meeting in fancy dress at another comic book convention in Edinburgh.

Having admitted to a few nerves before he took the plunge, James, who works as a guide for an Edinburgh ghost tour company, said: “I was quite nervous but I’m so glad she said yes.”

MCM, who organised the Comic Con event, wished the couple well, saying: “Who says superheroes and supervillains can’t get along?”
