Dunfermline pub boss attacked by customer in closing time row

-

A female publican was attacked by a drunk customer as she tried to close for the night.

Thomas Jaun from Switzerland was unimpressed with Scottish opening hours and had wanted to keep drinking at the Creepy Wee Pub in Dunfermline when landlady Lauren Tierney asked him to leave.

The 34-year-old then launched an attack on Ms Tierney, injuring her by repeatedly punching her on the head.

Jaun had been based in Dunfermline for a fortnight through his work at the time of the assault and his violent conduct landed him two nights in custody before his appearance at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted the attack at the Kirkgate pub on Saturday October 8.

Depute fiscal Alex Piper told the court that Ms Tierney had called for last orders just before 1am.

Ten minutes later Jaun went to the bar and demanded to be served.

He was told in no uncertain terms that the bar was closed and he would have to drink up and go home, Mr Piper said,

Jaun then punched the woman on the face before he was restrained and taken from the premises.

Ms Tierney followed out behind him and warned him he could not behave like that in a pub.

At that, Jaun punched her again on the left side of the face.

Defence solicitor Joshni Roshi said her client had been out eating and drinking with work colleagues that night.

“He is embarrassed to find himself in court and had two nights in custody because of this,” she added.

Sheriff Chris Shead fined Jaun £450 and ordered him to pay £250 compensation.
