A petition has been set up calling on Perth and Kinross Council to introduce new traffic calming measures in Coupar Angus in the wake of the death of twoyear-old Harlow Edwards.

The youngster died after being struck by a car just yards from her home as she walked with her big sister Dionne, 17, and six-year-old brother Leon.

Her parents Sara and Steven are continuing a vigil at the bedsides of her two siblings who remain in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee in a “serious” condition following Thursday’s tragedy.

Within hours, the petition had been signed by more than half the 1,000 needed to send to the local authority.

It has been set up by campaigner Alison Saunders who wants to see efforts made to curb speeds in Coupar Angus.

She said: “The school, park, a football pitch and the skatepark are all in that area and there are often a lot of youngsters walking up and down the road. “It needs to be safer.” The petition is at www.change.org/p/ perth-and-kinross-council-trafficcalming-measures-at-larghan-parkcoupar-angus.

Meanwhile, a collection to support Harlow’s parents has passed £7,500.

Organiser Nadia Rice thanked supporters for their “overwhelming generosity”, adding the aim was to “try and relieve the financial strains while they get through this worry and grief”.
